UK Northwest Guitars

Unread post by Mr. Sneaky » Fri Jan 20, 2017 7:43 pm

Hey folks. I located an excellent source for Pacifica parts etc. through endless searching on the Internet. I'm sure this may be old news to some but I anticipate others will benefit. At least I am hoping that's the case. I enjoy modding my 112 Pacificas and have been on the hunt for a company that provides the stock sealed machine heads which come on the 112's etc. from the factory . I personally have never had any issues whatsoever with them and have found that they hold up extremely well. I personally have never used the tremelo and typically block them with a 9 volt battery as a first step when doing the initial setup so I can't say how well they perform under "whammy conditions" but feel that no one is trying anything too radical with the stock tremelo anyway. So my search for a supplier was due to me basically wanting some different color /finish options. After beating on my older (1994) YGX121D for years I am still amazed at how they remain smooth and consistent to this day. I guess I could have taken an easier yet more expensive route and upgraded to any of the aftermarket tuners but I did not want to drill additional holes in the headstock etc.,etc. Anyway, the source I stumbled across is UK Northwest Guitars. Look them up via Google. Sorry for not adding a link but I am on a tablet and have no idea how to do it. The part number is J805 with BK being the suffix for the black ones. They also offer the standard stock chrome ones as well as a gold version. From what I understand they are manufactured in the same plant as Wilkonsons (sp?) and are indeed the source of the original units. They are the ones with the two pins protruding from the back and without any additional mounting screws. Give them a look if you are in need. I scored a set for just under $30.00 US delivered. Hope this helps all of you guys searching endlessly as I have been.

Can't begin to add up the amount of time I spent looking for these haha. I was beginning to take it personally. Spent half of my morning trying to register with Yamaha 24x7 and then get a response. Well I just now got a great blowup of the 112J /112XJ from customer support (at Yamaha 24x7) and now that same Yamaha site refuses to recognize the part numbers that they themselves provided. Good grief.
Thank goodness for UK Northwest!

Thanks for all that Scott. I know it's not easy on that tab of yours so the effort is definitely appreciated :)

I took a chance with a company on ebay out of China that provides pretty much any color and pickup configuration of Pacifica pickguards and received the first today. Perfect fit and arrived in 6 days! The cost of approximately $13.00 was to cheap not to take a chance on. It arrived with the back plate and all required hardware. Definitely a win in my book and I am placing more orders immediately. Both of the 112J 's were natural finish so I should be able to build a couple of semi unique (at least amongst my cohorts...haha) fiddles that I hope to hold on to. I also did some research via ebay on Dragonfire pickups and prewired pickguards. Lots to do....I have decided to order a couple of their handwired strat pickups and just swap everything over to the Pacificas and bury the extra tone pot in the control cavity. There are many choices of pickups and every possible configuration. The reviews I have seen are all favorable and you can't beat a delivered cost of $99.00 fully wired with quality pots, 5 way switch and wiring and numerous pickup options to choose from. Should be a simple matter of throwing everything into the new Pacifica pickguard of choice(from the first supplier. .."guitarpartsdistributor ") and hooking up the ground and input jack. A good learning experience with little to no soldering involved and a total investment (including guitar) of less than $250.00 per axe. The ebay supplier for the prewired pickguards is named "TNT Guitars". I could spend hours describing all of the available options. Everyone should check out their products and the online reviews. I scored my blank pickguards from another ebay supplier simply called "guitarpartsdistributor". Hope this helps some of folks looking to mod your Pacificas.
