Does anybody know details about this Yamaha LP electric guitar ? (LP Standard - Maybe a LP1000 version?)

Unread postby DanTM » Thu Mar 02, 2017 9:03 am

Hello everybody !

I stumbled across this Japanese website displaying a Yamaha LP Standard

http://www.k4.dion.ne.jp/~yjibika/YamahaLPStd.html

So I searched through the catalogues but I did not find any useful information.

The LP 1000 did not have plastic buttons on their tuners but those "lower end" (LP400 - LP600) LP's did. But again those "lower end" LP's (LP400 - LP600) did not have this kind of construction.

Does anybody know what is displayed here ? Is there really a Yamaha LP that was labeled as a "Standard" only without any model number ?

Thank you and kind regards
Dan

Hey,

I took a look at your site but I did not find any useful information concerning my question.

Your write "within the Lord Player range all models have Standard written on them except for the 800 which has custom written on." This specific model above has only written "Standard" on the headstock. So either there was a "Standard" model besides the "Custom" model or somebody change the trussrod cover. If somebody changed the trussrod cover then there is thi flamed top which could help to identify the model but there is no model that I know of that has such a strong flame.

Sorry you didn't find anything useful on the site. The colour doesn't look unusual to me in fact I have seen several like that. On initial look I would have said it was a 500 or a 600 with changed truss rod cover. What about the construction suggests to you it isn't. The fretboard looks like Rosewood to me so it can't be an 800. The pictures of the pickups aren't good enough for me to see whether they are spinex though. If they are it wouldn't be a 500 or 600.

Thanks for your help. Of course there is a lot of useful information on your website in general and I've already visited it several times (Y)

Just in this case I couldn't find the answer but what you write makes sense.

I meant that I've never seen a standard Lord Player with such a strong flame on the top. In fact I've only seen LPs with very plain tops.

Here you can see a LP 1000 that looks almost identical to the LP above except for the tuner buttons
http://www.k4.dion.ne.jp/~yjibika/YamahaLP1000.html

Here is another LP 1000 - Also a flamed top
http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/showpos ... stcount=21

Anyway, those tuners used are the exact same tuners as used on LP 500's and 600's so this really just might be a LP500/600 with a very nice top and a changed trussrod cover.
