Line 6 Shuriken

An interesting looking baritone guitar. I'm not sure but one should be able to accomplish the same tunings with the free software for the regular Variax guitars.

Fixed that link for you Jeff. It's frustrating that YouTube uses so many different link formats as only certain ones will work inside a phpbb forum like ours.

Love what Line 6 are doing these days. I think a lot of influence from Yamaha there, especially in that Shuriken.

I love the Helix, hate the fact that they are not doing a Variax for lefties any more. So I am stuck with my 500

That Shuriken is around £1200 in the UK. Not available yet of course but up for pre-order. It's definitely more my kinda look for a modelling guitar although I also like the JTV's

Interesting vid about it's development including how Yamaha got involved.

Derek, I think you will have to get your own leftie custom built ;)

Like giving up on waiting for Yamaha to do something interesting synth wise, after waiting for five years for a leftie JTV I gave up and got a Strat and fitted it with a Roland GK3 and a GR55 pedal. Not the same but ....

We are 10% of the population, so a significant % of the demographics to be ignoring. I guess a proportion of lefties learn to play right handed (or do a Hendrix) which means that less than 10% of guitars need a leftie model - or maybe the % of guitar players who are left handed (as opposed to left handed players) is smaller still.

Whilst I play keyboards as a right handed person would, there was just something about a right handed guitar that was so alien to me no matter how hard I tried, but a left handed guitar when I tried one instantly felt so natural.

The Variax is a great guitar for a leftie where there is usually limited choice! Such a shame they never made a JTV in south paw form.

Derek,
It is unfortunate a lot of left handed guitarist compromise or settle for whatever is available. I understand the marketing reasons, but believe they should at least be available as a special order. I know some left handed golfers that face some similar issues with clubs.

I agree. Myself and other lefties even said to line6 we would be happy to pay a premium, but even that fell on deaf ears. As I said, I just could never get on with a right handed guitar. There must be something about my wiring that means my left hand has to strum.pick and my right hand has to fret! :)

I would have thought there are enough left handed guitarists in the world to make it more than worthwhile to produce a few left handed versions of Variax guitars.

I really hope that this is an indication of a new direction for the Variax guitar line. I've wanted to buy a Variax for many years, but I'm not a fan of the James Tyler designs - the singlecut is ok, but I really want a 5-way switch.

The Shuriken looks great, but I wish it was standard scale. Also weird that they won't make a lefty and then they release a baritone.
