Yamaha PAC311H opinions

Unread postby Mr. Sneaky » Wed Jan 11, 2017 1:21 pm

Hello All!

New member here and am looking for feedback from anyone else that has obtained one of the fairly recently realeased PAC311H or PAC611H models.I know that the pickups and saddles are of higher quality on the 611's and there are a couple of different finish options available but has anyone sat down with them side by side to do a comparison? Thanks in advance for any info you may provide.

I bought a brand new tobacco sunburst PAC-120H , LIKED it a lot, but didn't love it. :?

The cool feature was the coil split, giving both LP and strat sounds, from the two humbuckers.
The sound was really good, but the feel of the neck and color made me sell it again.
If I was to get another PAC strat, the 311H in white with the humbucker and P90 would be my choice.
The 611, not so much, even though the specs and pups are better.

Regards
Peter

Hi Peter,

Yeah I am less than impressed with the 311H that I received (natural finish w/tortiose shell pick guard).I can't really complain about the cost since I ended up paying $315.00 delivered but it just feels cheap for a guitar originally listed at around $399.00. The Grover locking tuners are less than impressive and the tone knob/coil splitter I feel is destined for a very short life. My favorite feature was the finish on the neck. Raw! I put a lot of hours on it in an attempt to break it in but am still experiencing tuning issues and the low E string is barely on the fretboard. Really let down by one of my favorite manufacturers. The prices on both the 311 & 611 are plummeting in tne US already. I am seeing like new311's for $225.00 and 611's for $350.00. I can't seem to give mine away..lol.

Would anyone happen to know which year the Pacificas adopted the latest headstock logo?

I can narrow it down my 611 has the modern logo and is a 2011 model the 2006 catalogue has the old style logo. So somewhere in those 5 years.

I appreciate the responses. So it's looking like we've narrowed it down to the 2010-2011 time frame. That's all I was really looking for. Eyeing some possible new candidates to add to the flock and a lot of the photos are not showing the serial numbers. Thanks again all.
