Thinking about separate sections for "Yamaha" guitars?

Bass anyone ?

Unread postby Buzzard » Sun Nov 06, 2016 8:05 pm

If we start off with a separate bass / bass amp section, will anyone be ready to show and debate the equipment ?

I have 3 Yamaha basses and one vintage bass stack, and ..... with a bit of luck, some old pics of other brands I used to own.

Of cause a FULL Yamaha bass list/roster will help.

Hopefully some REAL bass players will join and blow some life into a bass section.

Regards
Peter

I agree we need a bass/bass amp section. There are plenty of bass players out there and we need to cater to them. Let's give it a go. Nothing to lose by trying :)

have created the bass section. I am pretty sure there are no bass topics within the existing guitar section but if there are they should be moved into the new bass section. Let me know if you come across any.

Nice one Peter...and VERY nice bass :)

Do move any others you find. I'm sure the bass section can be just as busy as the guitar section or maybe more so! :)

Now the Bass topics are up and running.

Some topics were moved from the guitar section, and the one about my bass amps was partly copied from the guitar amp topic.

Yes, splitting GUITAR AMPS from Guitars, and once the Bass section has grown a bit, BASS AMPS could be separated too ..... splendid idea. ((i))

The Yamaha RA amps were actually made for organ/keyboards as an alternative to the Leslie cabinets.
Today, It may be outdated for synths requiring a wider frequency range, but guitarists treasure these swirly monsters. :D

Just an idea for the keyboard section .... hov about a "Keyboard Amp" section, including vintage and modern, that would be cool. ((i))

Yes indeed Peter,

I would guess it is the NEXT purchase after a Guitar - and probably for keyboardists too, unless they plan to be "Studio-Rats".

Obviously it can be taken to extremes - with subs for FX units (pedals, standalones etc).

I suppose ideally, one should be able to land where you want with the least number of clicks and not TOO MUCH scrolling 8) .

It's sort of like designing a Database. You need to decide at the outset, WHAT information you want to get out of it - or at least "get-at" easily.

Making additions or changes AFTER its up and running is harder - as it would involve moving lots of stuff around.

I think what I am concerned about is, as you all know, with this forum we tend not to stay on-topic too long and in order to provide all those sections and make it work we would need to then start forcing people to only discuss the subject of the particular section they are in. Do we want to go down that road? If you do that's ok but I think it will be a bit more work for moderators because you will need to guide people to posting in the right section and keep discussions on-topic.

I'm certainly with you on not wanting to increase the workload. We are all pretty good-humoured in here with little need to get the stick out - long may it continue . . . .

My impression is that IF there is a real serious head-scratcher posed, then folk tend to stay on-topic rather well . .and bring it to a conclusion

Like you Saul, I rather like the freedom to wander off topic - as the "conversation" might develop.

I'm certainly not immune from doing so - but hopefully try to keep it vaguely related to the O/P

Isn't it about time to make a subcategory for amps in the guitar section ?

....... and perhaps another subcategory from amps containing THR amps, There are LOTS of THR topics ?

I don't mind doing the job of moving the topics.
