Wonderful guitar, just need to replace two of the switches but I've managed to acquire some exact replacements.

Yes, switching, pickups, bridge all identical to the SC800 the main difference between the two is the set neck on the SC1200 and the woods used in its construction.

Yes, it's a cool construction having the neck going all the way through from the head to the end of the body. (doesn't it ? )
It looks to be in a close to new shape.

Yeah very interesting construction, Mapel, Mahogany, laminated neck all the way through, Alder wings on the body. The guitar has a few dents and scrapes, I'd describe it as played but looked after. Lovely dark Ebony fretboard. I've always been a big Yamaha SG fan but SC's may be one of those very unrated gems.

Super guitar Jimi. You are right SCs are largely under the radar but also a wide range too.

Cheers guys
Got the switches sorted out so everything is working perfectly now.
First read about the SC1200 in 1985 in a book reviewing guitars of the 80's. Thought to myself must get one of them someday. Only took me 31 years to do it (-:

Thanks Bill

There's a very clean SC800 for sale on EBay UK for a reasonable price at the moment.
