GAK - Online

Unread postby Derek » Sat Oct 15, 2016 9:30 am

This is a quick review on my first experience on buying from GAK on the 'net.

On Monday night around 10PM I ordered a Line6 Helix guitar processor (my birthday pressie for next week!). By 11PM I was getting order processing emails, and by mid morning Tuesday an email to say it was dispatched, with regular updates on its status, including a link to the tracking number. It arrived Wednesday all well packaged up.

So a very positive thumbs up from me.

Thanks Derek. I gather your birthday came and went and you had a good time? How did you get on with the Helix?

Hi, Saul

Yes, it came and went, but due to many other things going in this weekend, like my own gig on Friday and seeing Steve Howe in concert on a solo acoustic spot locally last night (chance discovery), and it being a lovely weekend in general (so spend it outside!) I have not spent much time with the Helix yet, but have fired it up and gone through the presets, testing it with my Variax. It sounds great and looks great as well (built like a tank), with a very nice clear display, coloured LED rings around the switches and "scribble strip" LCDs above the switches that name the patches or the functions you have assigned to the switches. So very well thought out.

I went for this unit as I will never be a shredding guitar player, but I am interested in moods and effects, so I wanted a very flexible unit in terms of building up the sound processing, and this looks like the baby. You can have up to four sound chains and put effects in any combination.
